ANGUS C6 FIRE FIGHTING FOAM

AQUEOUS FILM FORMING FOAM

Synthetic Aqueous Film-Forming Foam (AFFF) concentrates are best for extinguishing and securing flammable hydrocarbon liquid fires.  Angus Fire’s Tridol  is a superior quality AFFF concentrate with a unique combination of hydrocarbon and fluorochemical surface active agents. It produces a vapour-sealing aqueous film that spreads rapidly over the fuel surface to provide rapid control and extinguishment.

AR AFFF – ALCOHOL RESISTANT AQUEOUS FILM FORMING FOAM

Alcohol Resistant Aqueous Film Forming foams, AR-AFFF, are especially effective for extinguishing and securing flammable hydrocarbon and polar solvent fires.  High risk facilities such as refineries, pharmaceutical plants, process areas often require AR AFFF foams.

Angus Fire’s TridolC6 ATF is a range of AR-AFFF foams, which are cost-effective foam concentrates containing a unique combination of hydrocarbon and flurorocarbon surface active agents. They produce a vapour-sealing aqueous film that spreads rapidly over hydrocarbon surfaces to provide rapid control and extinguishment. On polar solvents an insoluble polymer membrane is formed which protects the foam blanket from the solvent.

 

TRIDOLC6 ULTRA 1-3

TridolC6 Ultra 1-3 is used in high risk situations where hydrocarbons and/or polar solvents are stored, processed, or
transported. Typical applications include hydrocarbon storage tanks, process areas, warehouses, power stations,
marine terminals and offshore platforms.

TridolC6 Ultra 1-3 contains a unique combination of hydrocarbon and flurorocarbon surface active agents.
It produces a vapour-sealing aqueous film that spreads rapidly over hydrocarbon surfaces to provide rapid control and extinguishment. On polar solvents an insoluble polymer membrane is formed which protects the foam blanket from the solvent.

FP-FLUOROPROTEIN

Angus Fire’s FluoroProtein (FP) foam concentrates are based on advanced protein foam technology and are ideal for extinguishing and securing flammable hydrocarbon liquid fires.  The protein base provides a tough cohesive foam blanket with high resistance to heat that quickly smothers, cools, and seals the risk. Fluorochemical surface active agents combined with the protein base increase the fluidity and fuel shedding properties of the foam.

Fluoroprotein foams are ideal to use in high risk situations where hydrocarbons (such as aviation kerosene, crude oil, gasoline, and diesel fuel) are stored, processed, or transported. They are used extensively for tank protection and other refinery based risks as well as at jetties and offshore installations, process areas, road/rail loading racks, marine terminals.

FFFP-FILM FORMING FLUOROPROTEIN

Just like the FluoroProtein (FP) foam concentrates Film forming Fluoroprotein foams are based on advanced protein foam technology and are ideal for extinguishing and securing flammable hydrocarbon liquid fires.  FFFP foams have the additional advantage that they can be used unaspirated due to their ability of film formation.  The protein base provides a tough cohesive foam blanket with high resistance to heat that quickly smothers, cools, and seals the risk, and the film formation ability brings rapid knockdown.

CLASS A FOAM

Class A fires (wood, paper, timber, etc) are extinguished by wetting the combustible material. This also prevents re-ignition. Foams that reduce the surface tension of water to increase penetrating power are best suited for Class A fires.

 

FOREXPAN

Forexpan is a flurorine free synthetic fire fighting foam concentrate specially formulated for Class A applications such as forestry and wildland fire control, structural fires, and tyre and paper fires.

The balanced chemical system in Forexpan reduces the surface tension of water to increase the penetrating power into burning Class A materials.

HI-EXANSION FOAM

Hi-Expansion foams are ideal to use at medium expansion at minor incidents such as small hydrocarbon liquid spill fires where close approach to the fire allows hand-held apparatus to be used. They can also be used in conjunction with fixed installations to provide bund protection, where it can achieve extinction of fires or suppression of toxic vapour release after chemical spillage.

 

EXPANDOL

Expandol is a superior quality fluorine free high expansion fire fighting foam concentrate for extinguishing and securing flammable hydrocarbon liquid fires. Expandol produces large-volumes of high expansion foam for use in total flooding applications, marine fire fighting and Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) applications.

  • Initial contact with fire generates a large volume of steam reducing the available oxygen to create an inert atmosphere.
  • The high water content of medium expansion foam produces a valuable cooling effect.
  • The large volume of foam generated engulfs the area and totally seals off and extinguishes any remaining fires.

TRAINING FOAM

This fluorine free formulation is ideal for training exercises and fire vehicle testing with minimal environmental impact.  Angus Training Foams are specially formulated to meet the growing demand for environmentally benign training foams. Whenever possible foam users prefer to train with foams that will be used in a real-life emergency.  Angus Fire fluorine free training foam concentrates mimic the appearance, induction and foam properties of front line firefighting foams.  This ensures high levels of familiarity with the product performance and flexibility across all members of the front-line fire fighting team.

 

TRAINOL 6

Trainol 6 IS fluorine free foam concentrates for 6% usage, which has been specially formulated to provide a unique training foam with a synthetic base material but no fluorosurfactants. Trainol mimics the performance of Angus Tridol S AFFF, the aviation industry standard for fire fighting foams, to provide realistic fire training without the use of fluorinated chemicals.

FOAM TESTING

 

 

  • Foam Testing

    AS1940-1993 Clause 9.8.15 asks that samples of foam concentrate shall be checked at a frequency of not less than annually against the manufacturers specifications, in accordance with NFPA11 Chapter 8.

    Foam testing is crucial in ensuring that stocks of foam concentrate held in long-term storage are in good condition when they are needed to put out a fire. It is impossible to tell if foam concentrate is of operational quality by smelling it, looking at it in its drum, or touching the finished foam blanket. Kidde has a fully equipped laboratory where foam concentrate sample testing is conducted on an almost daily basis for clients around Australia. With knowledge and experience of evaluating foam samples gained over many years, Chubb are uniquely placed to interpret the results and provide reliable recommendations about the suitability of foam for use in an emergency. Analytical chemistry laboratories that do not specialise in fire fighting foam testing are unable to offer such specialist expertise.

    Test results include physical properties, foam properties, fuel tolerance, burnback resistance, film formation (where applicable) and alcohol resistance (where applicable).

    The results are reported quickly with a comprehensive test report. All test results are fully confidential and completely unbiased, copies of which are kept on file at Chubb and released to your nominated personnel only.

    Upon notification, sample containers can be sent to your site with instructions on sampling procedures. Test results are usually available in 1-2 weeks, however, a 24 hour result can be given if requested.
